Pineland Farms Kitchen & Deli
A full deli inside a well-stocked market in the middle of the sprawling Pineland campus
Pineland Farms is a sprawling 5,000 acre campus that is worth a visit if you haven’t been. But that’s not what this is about. This is about the deli that is in the Pineland store in the middle of campus. The Pineland store itself is full of all sorts of things – it’s kind of like a Rosemont Market but not. When the Libra Foundation fixed up Pineland, the former “Maine School for the Feeble Minded”, they thankfully spent some money on the central store/kitchen. They sell Pineland swag, Pineland-grown veggies, Pineland meat and cheese (pricey but good) – and then a whole lot of other things including beer and wine. But the gem is past the store section where you’ll find a full deli that makes great soups, sandwiches, and baked goods. It’s a good spot to pick up lunch fixings, drive around the campus, and find a comfy spot for a picnic. Bring a blanket, chairs, and a frisbee and have a quality afternoon. Or work off the meal with a round of disc golf on one of their 2 courses.
- Don’t Miss: The Famished Farmer sandwich with a bag of Fox potato chips and a pickle (the Almost Thanksgiving used to be great but wasn’t very good the past couple of times)
- Need to Know: They wrap up the pickle inside the wax paper so don’t let it fall on the ground when you unwrap
- Pro Tip: Order your sandwiches first, then shop for the sides while they’re being made
